Strukturholding Saar first company in Saarland to become a certified ‘healthy employer’

Strukturholding Saar GmbH (SHS) and its companies are now permitted to use the title ‘Healthy Employer 2023/24’ in the categories of occupational health management and occupational health promotion. It is the first company in Saarland to achieve this.

The regional designation of ‘Healthy Employer 2023/24’ is awarded by the Corporate Health Alliance (EUPD Research) to companies in recognition of their efforts to strengthen their employer brand and provide professionals with vital orientation in choosing their future employer. SHS received the distinction for its outstanding dedication to occupational health and for the pioneering role it plays in the field of sustainable and holistic occupational health management. The certification requires a time-consuming audit, which SHS passed after several months of assessments.

SHS’s CEO Rita Gindorf-Wagner views this as recognition of the group’s efforts: ‘We are extremely proud to have been awarded “Healthy Employer” certification, and this is also proof that economic growth and employee well-being can successfully go hand in hand. As well as creating jobs, we also establish an environment where people of all ages can enjoy their work and crucially remain healthy whilst doing so. This is because healthy, motivated employees are vital for a company’s long-term success.’

After the ‘Cycle-Friendly Employer’ title awarded to ADFC Saar, ‘Healthy Employer’ is the second certification granted to the SHS group, which began developing occupational health management (OHM) as a separate pillar nearly a decade ago. The SHS group now has a comprehensive programme to promote employee health, including cycling tours, group walks, consultation seminars, and individual medical checks and examinations within the company. A mobile optician helps employees avoid the long waiting times involved in visiting an external optician. An attractive incentive programme, including a wellness day at Saarland Therme, encourages employees to participate in a wide range of sport courses.

‘Occupational health management, like working from home, is a vital factor in attracting new employees. And SHS wants to stay at the forefront of this’, Gindorf-Wagner adds. The gwSaar Saarland Economic Promotion Corporation and Saarland’s regional development company LEG Saar in particular are struggling to find qualified staff for their vital tasks – and successful OHM can be a key factor in the competition for top talent.

About EUPD Research and the ‘Healthy Employer’ designation

EUPD is the leading market-research, analysis and certificate institute and has been identifying sustainable companies across the globe for more than 20 years. The regional designation of ‘Healthy Employer’ awarded by EUPD Research is based on the national German Corporate Health Evaluation Standard (CHES model). After applying, all companies receive a free check & act report that sets out their OHM and OHP target attainment, and thus provides information about whether the company has qualified for further online verification of the information the company provided. It is not until this verification is successfully completed that EUPD Research awards the designation ‘Healthy Employer for Occupational Health Promotion’ or ‘Healthy Employer for Occupational Health Management’.
