A project that has set standards and, because of its model character, is an important flagship for the “Car Land Saarland” as a whole.
The planning, construction and operation of the integrated supplier park were realised by SBB Saarland Bau und Boden Projektgesellschaft in coordination with the responsible parties at Ford. A total investment of 100 million Euros was undertaken in three construction phases.
Suppliers, logistics companies and service providers set up shop on an area of approx. 100,000 m² to deliver their products ‘just in time – just in sequence’ to Ford’s production process.
The heart of the industrial park: the transport system in the form of an electrical conveyor belt. It automatically transports manufactured components from the suppliers to the production lines at the Ford plant.
