SHS Strukturholding Saar, represented by LEG Service GmbH (LEGS), was commissioned by the state to construct a new building for the Saarbrücken City Police Inspectorate, including a public agency parking garage for the accommodation of emergency and service vehicles as well as authorised public agency employees, on the site already used by the police in Mainzer Strasse in the St. Johann district of Saarbrücken.
Construction work has been ongoing since January 2021 on the new police inspectorate for Saarbrücken City (named “PISB”) that combines three police stations. The Brebach, St. Johann/Karcherstrasse and Alt-Saarbrücken police stations will be united at the new location.
The Ministry of the Interior, Construction and Sport is making its land between Hellwigstrasse, Halbergstrasse, the German-French Gymnasium, the building at Mainzer Strasse 134 and Mainzer Strasse available for the construction project (and other uses). The site has a total area of approximately 22,000 m².
The construction of the new “Police Inspectorate Saarbrücken City” is planned by the Regional Police Department (as user) as a police station for 320 officials. The new Police Inspectorate will include 96 offices, several meeting and interrogation rooms, special function rooms such as e.g., deployment control desks where emergency calls and deployment can be coordinated. On the ground floor, there is a service courtyard with a single-storey custody wing with 10 cells.
A multi-storey car park with a total of 373 car parking spaces, 17 outdoor car parking spaces for visitors, and bicycle parking completes the parking provisions.
Site preparation of the entire “Ulanen Barracks Quarter”:
The required development measures, i.e., the necessary new traffic routing with the same infrastructure, will be carried out in two construction phases, in large part at the same time as the construction of the new PISB.
Depending on the necessary preliminary work in the development area, the construction of the building began with the earthworks and foundation measures (bored pile work) at the end of January 2021.
