LEG Saar : Enlarged `Wällerichen` industrial area gets started

From now on, even more companies can settle on the `Wällerichen` area near Tholey. LEG Saar, Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft Saarland, supported the community of Tholey in expanding the site in Hasborn-Dautweiler. Furthermore, the SHS subsidiary was in charge of the technical project management. On May 24th, the enlarged area was opened in the presence of Economics Minister Jürgen Barke.

Valentin Holzer, Managing Director of LEG Saar, is pleased about the successful expansion: `LEG Saar as a a partner of the Saarland communities has once more fulfilled its task and made a significant contribution to relocate more companies here. So, we can together advance the development of our region`, he said on site.

A part of the site was already developed a few years ago, and several medium-sized companies have meanwhile become established there. They also appreciate the commercial area because of its good transport links to the A1. Now it was about a usable area of a size almost comparable to a soccer field, located southeast of Hasborn-Dautweiler, above the existing industrial and commercial area `Wällerichen`.

In line with the development plan for this project, various services were provided for the development of the site. So, the enlarged area has an access road including turning area with a total length of approx. 80 m and a width of 6.50 m. The road begins at the junction to Industriestraße and then runs in an easterly direction.
The area is located on a mountain slope with a southeast-northwest ground inclination. Therefore, it was terraced. Moreover, the water and power supply, street lighting as well as drainage were installed and a fire water tank was placed.

The construction process, which started in May 2021 and raised a total cost of around 2.2 million euros, was handled via a trust account managed by LEG Saar. The Ministry of Economy subsidized the measure at 95 % of the eligible deficit of the measure. Mid-December 2022, construction was completed.
