The wellness resort in the western part of Saarland, situated in direct vicinity of the French border, has won silver in Vienna at the European Health & SPA Award 2013, a kind of `Oscar for Spas`. And this already in its first year of operation. The Saaarland Therme received the award in the category Best Thermal Resort. The `Oscar for Spas` had been advertised across Europe by Vienna-based Agentur für Gesundheit & Wellness. The Saarland Therme, which was newly opened in September 2012, won the silver medal behind the Erlebnisbad Mediterana in Bergisch-Gladbach. Construction background: Within a period of less than two years, the experts of the Projektgesellschaft Thermalbad Rilchingen implemented the lighthouse project on an area of roughly 12 hectares, thus creating about 200 new jobs. The SHS and its subsidiaries played an important role in the financing, development and management of the project.
