The university has many positive effects on Saarland´s economy and demography. So, about one quarter of young people aged 20-25 years come here to attend university studies. Half of the Saarland high-school graduates (Abiturienten) study at the local university, and one in two university graduates even finds a permanent employment in the region. These are only some few results of current research financed by the Arbeitskammer des Saarlandes. On the initiative of the Kooperationsstelle Wissenschaft und Arbeitswelt of the Saarland University, sociologists and economists had a look at the university from a socio-economic perspective.
