On 8 July, work to expand the ‘Wällerichen’ commercial area began with a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony, with Minister of Economic Affairs Anke Rehlinger in attendance. LEG Saar is helping the municipality of Tholey to expand this area in Hasborn-Dautweiler. This SHS subsidiary is responsible for the technical management of the project.
Part of the ‘Wällerichen’ plot was developed a few years ago, and various medium-sized companies have since moved in. This commercial area is near the A1 and therefore offers very attractive logistics for local companies.
The next step relates to a usable area similar in size to a football field. In accordance with the land-use plan for the current project covering around 9,000 m2, sewer and terracing work was completed to develop the area.
The construction project, with a total cost of around 2.2 million euros, is being handled via an escrow account managed by LEG Saar. The Ministry of Economic Affairs will subsidise the project up to 95% of the project’s deficit eligible for funding.
The construction work will most likely finish in the summer of 2022, followed by planting the following autumn.
