Event Wing begins: Saarbrücken Airport offers tours, conference rooms and event spaces

Today (November 1) sees Saarbrücken Airport launch “Event Wing”, a service for marketing and booking conference rooms, indoor and outdoor spaces, and airport tours. The aim is to position the airport as an attractive leisure and event venue, in addition to its role as an infrastructure service provider for airlines.

From seminars and conferences, to company celebrations and after-work parties, to large-scale events with more than a thousand guests and airport tours that offer a peek behind the scenes – for the first time ever, the “Event Wing” online platform (www.eventwing.saarland) brings together all of Saarbrücken Airport’s event offerings provided at the site in addition to its flight operations.

Airport CEO Thomas Schuck: “The airport offers a setting that is unique in Saarland. It is therefore only logical for us to make full use of the site’s potential in addition to offering regular flight operations – in other words, actively marketing our conference rooms and event spaces and gradually expanding our popular airport tours. Our airport should be a key destination on the event map for both private leisure activities and business clients. We will therefore be continually further developing our range of Event Wing services. We welcome all inquiries.”

If this sounds of interest, www.eventwing.saarland offers an overview of all services, including information on the spaces and rooms that are available for booking. It also makes it much easier to book the popular airport tours, which can now be done online. For individual event formats, the platform allows users to get in touch with an experienced team that will put together a tailored package.

Developing Event Wing was a challenge for airport tours in particular, as this involved reconciling providing an interesting service with ensuring that safety requirements are met and that flight operations can run smoothly. In the meantime, experienced external tourist guides have also been trained as guides for visiting tour groups.

How well various airport areas work as event spaces has been practically tested by events such as a Musikfestspiele Saar concert (18 May) in the airport hangar with around 1,500 guests, Airport Wies´n organized by Grunder on the meadow, and various company workshops held in spaces within the terminal.
