CeBIT 2017: Saarland informatics at the world´s biggest event for digitalization

Artificial Intelligence, humanoid robots and Virtual Reality stand for new trends and technologies that are increasingly shifting the boundaries of what is feasible. At the CeBIT in Hanover – this year with the lead theme d!conomy – no limits – these and other topics are presented by 3,000 exhibitors. The CeBIT is the only event worldwide that makes digital transformation tangible in its entirety – with all chances, concrete showcases and best practices. Basic solutions are also showcased by Saarland companies.

From March 20-24, over 30 Saarland businesses and research institutes present their innovations and products in Hanover. On the first day of the fair, during his tour of the CeBIT, Jürgen Barke, State Secretary of the Economy, will stop by at their stands. Furthermore, the State Secretary will meet high-ranking representatives of industry and politics. So, for example, at the Saarland Research Stand (Hall 6E 28) where scientists from the Saarland University showcase their multifaceted research, e.g. a new process to eliminate disadvantages of 3-D print, calculation methods to fight antibiotic resistances or space missions, just to name a few.

See, experience and understand innovations – that´s the motto of the DFKI (German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence). In 3 halls and at 8 stands, the DFKI shows 20 objects from 12 research areas that highlight topical applications and solutions regarding digital transformation in the knowledge society.

In the Research & Innovation section in hall 6, two interdisciplinary DFKI Competence Centers at a time are presented at the DFKI Stand (B48): The Deep Learning Competence Center which bundles work regarding text, image, video and social media analyses, and the Wearable AI Competence Center which shows latest developments and future trends in terms of wearable technologies.

 

As in the previous years, the >> Saarland Joint Stand (Hall 5, F46), which has been an integral part of the CeBIT for over 25 years, was organized by saaris – saarland.innovation&standort e. V. and supported by the Saarland Economics Ministry.

Mobile IT solution for the police
In the Public Sector Parc (Hall 7), at the stand of the IT Planning Council, the State of Saarland spotlights a mobile IT solution for the police – the traffic accident app – and a new procedure to apply online for integration aid. In doing so, Saarland is the first German State with any such offer.
