At this year’s ‘HYDROGEN WEEK’ (21 to 29 June), companies and institutions will be providing information about the future viability of hydrogen as an energy source via numerous events nationwide. For the first time ever, this national campaign week will have a Saarland patron in the shape of Dr Bettina Hübschen, CEO of hydrogen agency H2Saar.
Hydrogen plays a major role in the energy revolution and is a key technology for storing green energy, decarbonising industry and chemistry, and transforming the transport sector. ‘HYDROGEN WEEK’ (‘WOCHE DES WASSERSTOFFS’, #WDW) from 21 to 29 June will offer exciting events where interested citizens can learn more and get involved. The aim of #WDW is to inform the general public about hydrogen and its role in sustainable energy policy, as well as to overcome prejudices.
‘Educating the public about hydrogen’s capability and sustainability as an energy source is vital in order to consensually implement the technologies and structural measures required for the energy revolution. The campaign week provides low-threshold access to this world for anyone with an interest. As the patron, I plan to make HYDROGEN WEEK a cross-border initiative, working with partners in France and Luxembourg to create a genuine hydrogen ecosystem. I would like to cordially invite everyone to get involved – both companies and institutions by offering their own services, and citizens by attending the campaign week’, said Dr. Bettina Hübschen, CEO of the Saarland hydrogen agency H2Saar.
#WDW will serve as a showcase for anyone with an interest in hydrogen, as well as a platform for stakeholders to present their projects and innovations. Companies, universities, networks and initiatives can all get involved in the campaign week. Anyone interested in learning more can find full details on the central online platform www.wochedeswasserstoffs.de.
Bettina Hübschen is taking over from Andreas Rimkus, member of German parliament and hydrogen representative for the SPD parliamentary group, who was the patron in 2024. This year is the seventh #WDW overall and the third to be held on a national scale.
