KIMES 2026, Korea: Germany’s Saarland promoting Saarland as a hub of business at international medical exhibition in Seoul

From 19 to 22 March, the gwSaar Saarland Economic Promotion Corporation will be showcasing its services under its international Germany’s Saarland brand with an exhibition stand at the Korea International Medical & Hospital Equipment Show (KIMES) in Seoul. It will be seeking to encourage Asian companies in the life sciences, medical technology and pharmaceutical industries to set up operations in Saarland and strengthen existing economic ties with South Korea.

With around 1,500 exhibitors from 39 countries, KIMES is one of the largest medical trade fairs in Asia. Given this, attending the trade fair forms part of Saarland’s life science strategy, deliberately positioning the region as an international competitor for technology-driven investment. It will also give Saarland companies an opportunity to forge contacts with the Asian medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetics markets.

This trade fair appearance will focus on the B2B sector. The Germany’s Saarland exhibition stand will present relocation and collaboration opportunities in Saarland for Asian companies. These include the InSaar EU Hub, a joint initiative by gwSaar and KIST Europe, which assists Korean companies seeking to enter the European single market – from office and research space to help with administrative process or network building. Other Saarland companies will also be presenting their offerings and services at the stand in the form of MT Promedt Consulting GmbH, Polycine GmbH and Black Hen Products GmbH. In addition, there are plans for discussions with companies geared towards the capital market, as well as a conversation between CEO Thomas Schuck and leading representatives of the South Korean province of Gangwon.

gwSaar’s CEO Thomas Schuck: ‘In Korea, Saarland will be promoting itself as a top-performing research and business location for a sector with high levels of globalisation and networking. Regions that offer tailored consultation and implementation services for relocation projects (as gwSaar does) have good prospects in international competition.’

This appearance in Seoul marks a continuation of gwSaar’s international location development work and will strengthen the business links between Saarland and South Korea in the healthcare and life sciences sectors.
