For 20 years by now, SCS has been dealing with complex interrelationships of logistics networks, their markets, processes and services. `Given the rapidly growing international networking of logistics, companies must be flexible and adaptive. First, however, they need a good geographical location and industrial sites big enough to meet the companies\u00b4 requests. Thanks to the Industrial Areas Masterplan Saarland under which prime locations in Saarland were identified and developed, we can keep up with the best here`, Barke said.<\/p>\n
Major logistics companies have long discovered Saarland as a hub between East and West. Already now, the branch employs more than 6000 people in Saarland. And the number is growing. For, as an industrial location in the heart of Europe, the region offers best prerequisites for logistics activities: Given the excellent transport connections by road, rail and waterways almost every destination in Europe can be reached within 18 hours of driving. Research institutes such as the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the University of Applied Sciences (htwsaar) are partners of Saarland\u00b4s approximately 200 logistics companies – providing everything from consult, inbound, production, outbound and disposal logistics to R&D.<\/p>\n
For many businesses, logistics services are of major importance and can be decisive factors in the site selection process. But also the geographical position is of relevance. And companies in Saarland appreciate this. So, Ludwig Schokolade (formerly Trumpf) has a long history of worldwide deliveries from Saarwellingen – and this, since recently, from the already third production hall. Also the Dachser company which has established its Euro Hub in the Saarland town of \u00dcberherrn runs its biggest site for the handling of goods in Europe here.<\/p>\n
Only a few kilometers away, the Saarland Economic Promotion Corporation (gwSaar) has developed the Industrial Area Lisdorfer Berg. Together with other big, contiguous, and fully developed industrial properties with access to the German, French and Luxembourg motorways, this area is provided by gwSaar in the context of the EU-sponsored Saarland Industrial Areas Masterplan.
