The construction work on the Guy Lachmann Police Center (PZGL) is running at full speed. On Monday, December 29, the topping-out ceremony for the new building of the hall and workshop wing was celebrated \u2013 in a small group, compliant with corona regulations. Also Saarland\u00b4s Interior Minister Klaus Bouillon attended the ceremony. The client is Saarland Bau und Boden Projektgesellschaft, the project management is in the responsibility of LEG Service. Both companies belong to Strukturholding Saar GmbH, which was represented by managing director Valentin Holzer.<\/p>\n
With the renovation of the existing building of the former Praktiker headquarters and the new erection of a complex hall and building wing, a modern police center is being created in Kirkel. The new police center has a usable area of roughly 20,0000 m2 – enough space for temporarily up to 550 employees and the accommodation of multiple operating resources. The total investment is 28 million euros.<\/p>\n
Construction minister Klaus Bouillon said at the topping-out ceremony: `With the funding of this project as well as the investment in the big Saarbr\u00fccken-Stadt police station in the Mainzer Strasse, we make sure that the Saarland police are provided with a modern and sustainable infrastructure. In doing so, it is ideally equipped to cope with the current challenges police work is faced with. `<\/p>\n
Valentin Holzer, managing director of SHS, stated: `The renovation and enlargement of the former Praktiker headquarters is an example of the broad expertise of Strukturholding Saar GmbH with regard to developing and implementing complex solutions for multifunctional construction projects. The third-party use of a special building as e. g. the former Praktiker headquarters which was turned into a modern area for the Saarland police is an example of resource-saving management: First checking if existing buildings owned by the land can, by clever concepts, be converted and adjusted to the needs of the future tenant before starting new construction measures is lived financial and structural sustainability.`<\/p>\n
The existing building will be prepared to house eight departments, e. g. the riot police and traffic police. For this purpose, renovation measures to establish a needs-oriented room structure with offices, classrooms and a new training and fitness area with sanitary facilities will be effected. Also the building technology and IT infrastructure will be renewed.<\/p>\n
In the new building complex, vehicle depots for cars, small vans and special vehicles (trucks and trailers), a vehicle workshop with truck and test hall as well as functional rooms for workshop personnel and the canine police unit will be built. All in all about 50 vehicles will be accommodated there in a tactically and functionally clever way. To the north there will is a modern kennel for about 20 service dogs. The new building will be connected to the existing building by two stair towers and form an overall complex .<\/p>\n
After the start of the new construction work on the former parking lot behind the existing building in December 2020, the building shell has meanwhile been completed. The building enclosure is closed and the interior work is in progress. So, despite the difficult market situation, the construction project is largely on schedule.<\/p>\n
The completion of the existing and new buildings with handover to the state police headquarters is planned for spring 2022.<\/p>\n
