Since today, Tuesday, holiday destinations can be reached again from Saarbr\u00fccken Airport. An Airbus A320 of the airline SmartLynx, which flies in full charter for TUI Deutschland, took off for Palma de Mallorca in the early morning. Upon its return at lunchtime, the aircraft was received with the traditional baptism by the airport fire brigade.<\/p>\n
Airport Director Thomas Schuck welcomed the Airbus crew personally. `A start has been made! We are happy that people can finally fly to the sunny holiday regions again from Saarbr\u00fccken`, said Schuck.<\/p>\n
J\u00fcrgen Barke, State Secretary at the Saarland Ministry of Economic Affairs and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Flug-Hafen-Saarland GmbH, is pleased that Saarlanders can be offered very attractive flights also this summer. `We are not yet completely back – but today we have made a big step towards normality. With the appropriate hygiene concepts, testing capacities and flexible rebooking options, nothing stands in the way of relaxed holidays. Until the end of the season in October, TUI offers its guests from the southwest flights to Spain and Greece. In addition to daily flights to Mallorca, also the Greek islands of Crete, Kos and Rhodes as well as the Canary Islands of Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura are on the program. The SmartLynx Airbus A320 with 180 seats, which operates the routes on behalf of TUI, is stationed at the SCN. For German guests of TUI, Mallorca is still one of the most popular travel destinations. Among the roughly 900 hotels, there is something for every taste.

The airport is well prepared for the pandemic-related circumstances. `The SCN\u00b4s clear structures not only facilitate the passengers\u00b4 orientation but also ensure a very high level of hygiene and safety`, assures Thomas Schuck. `Nonetheless, the check-in and check-out for the passengers takes place without any significant delays, as the past year has shown.` The very high hygiene standard includes disinfectant dispensers, plexiglass protection at the check-in counters, the boarding pass control and the gates. Employees are all equipped with the prescribed medical masks. Signposting as well as routing can be described as exemplary.<\/p>\n
