The artwork is on free loan from the artist, who requested that in return, a donation should be made to a youth organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Airport CEO Thomas Schuck presented a cheque for \u20ac500 to the Ensheim voluntary fire department\u2019s youth fire brigade. \u201cWe appreciate Markus Hohlstein\u2019s willingness to use his artworks to support youth organisations\u201d, Schuck delightedly explained. \u201cWork with the youth fire brigade benefits Ensheim greatly. Children and young people join forces to give something back to their home town.\u201d The airport therefore decided to present the donation to representatives from the Ensheim division of the voluntary fire department.<\/p>\n<p>The 300kg, internally lit sphere stands in the bright entrance to the boarding card checking area. Hohlstein assembled around 3000 fragments to make the piece, one at a time. \u201cWhen the evening sun shines into the terminal, the piece creates a very special effect\u201d, Hohlstein explained.
