Since January 1st, 2018, Luxair Luxembourg Airlines has served a direct route between Saarbr\u00fccken and Berlin. With three flights per day and 18 flights per week, Saarbr\u00fccken Airport is once more excellently connected to the German capital. For this purpose, a Bombardier jet type CRJ700 with a capacity of 70 seats has been stationed at the SCN. On Monday, 8 January 2018, J\u00fcrgen Barke, State Secretary of Economic Affairs and Chairman of the SCN Board, and the Honorary Consul of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Leo Petry, together with the representatives of Saarbr\u00fccken Airport and Luxair Luxembourg Airlines, officially celebrated the opening of this route. The four crew members were greeted with a gift and the passengers were offered a breakfast at the boarding gate before take-off for Tegel.<\/p>\n
J\u00fcrgen Barke was pleased and satisfied that flights on this `for Saarland and the region significant route` will be operated without major interruptions. A stable and reliable flight connection between Saarbr\u00fccken and the capital city of Berlin was an important locational factor for Saarland. `We are glad that, with Luxair, we have found a reliable partner lastingly serving this route`.

For SCN Managing Director Thomas Schuck the commitment of Luxair is an important element to sustainably develop the airport. Martin Isler, Executive Vice President Airline, confirmed that the present level of bookings was very satisfying. The route had developed as expected and Luxair Luxembourg Airlines was optimistic to meet its pre-set targets.<\/p>\n
In front of the guests and the crew, he stressed again that it was of particular concern to Luxair Luxembourg Airlines as an airline from the Greater Region `to ensure this very important connection from Saarland to Berlin and to strengthen its presence at Saarbr\u00fccken Airport`. Luxair, he added, was a historical and strong partner of Saarbr\u00fccken Airport, offering the route to Berlin in addition to the 11 weekly flights to Hamburg.<\/p>\n
