This means that the parts are assembled into complete sets and delivered to the nearby Ford plant in building sequence. In the wake of this first order, up to 70 new job in Saarland will be created by Handling & Lager. At the turn of the year 2010/2011, production shall be launched. Saarland´s Minister of Economics , Dr. Christoph Hartmann, is pleased about the success of the Saarland´s location policy: "Saarland is one of the most important locations for the automotive industry in Europe, standing for quality, competence, and innovation. Also the decision of Ford to choose Saarlouis as the only European location where the Ford Focus II is built reflects this. Handling & Lager is an excellent company that matches Ford and Saarland very well", Hartmann said.
Nicolas Agustin Paya, Managing Director of Handling & Lager S.L. in Valencia, is very happy that, in a fierce competition, the company has been commissioned by Ford. "Saarwellingen is our first and only location in Germany. For us, it is the doorway to the German and French markets", so Agustin-Paya. "We join the prognosis of the economic experts and suppose there will be a moderate growth in the medium run. Therefore, we are planning to expand. We could also imagine that other industrial branches than the automotive industry can profit from our long-term experience in the automotive business.
The Saarland Economic Promotion Corporation (gwSaar) has played an essential part in this successful relocation. "gwSaar´s project managers had supported Handling & Lager from the beginning and advised the company in all questions related to the project. We are, of course, pleased that this engagement was successful, and to welcome a Spanish business to Saarland", Schuck said.
In Saarland, one in four industrially employed are active in the automotive construction sector. Roughly 46,000 Saarlanders are employed in the automotive branch respectively its supplying companies. All in all, over 150 Saarland companies are, directly or indirectly, depending from the automotive branch.
