Saarland Minister of Economics Dr Hartmann wants to further support the automobile industry. No decrease in sales – no staff cutbacks: These are the expectations for 2011 of the Saarland automobile companies given in a representative survey of the automotive.saarland network. The "automotive-cluster" is a project of the Saarland Ministry for Economics and Science.

November 2010 • Official commencement of construction for the Saarland thermal bath
A health park with its own thermal brine mineral spring, consisting of a hotel, thermal bath and vital centre, shall be built in Rilchingen-Hanweiler by autumn 2012. Minister Hartmann delivered the € 2.6 million approval decision to Heinz Peter Klein from Projektgesellschaft (the project company).

October 2010 • Success on Tour: Saarland Knowhow at the Inovatec in Brazil
"Success on Tour" - with this slogan, Saarland presents itself from October 5th - 8th at the Inovatec hightech fair in Belo Horizonte in Brazil. Organized by gwSaar and ZPT, innovative knowhow is presented at the Saarland common booth, including such innovative companies as the INM, Nanogate, Hydac and Chempro-Control.
Initiated by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Brazilian Ministry of Research, the fair takes place in the German-Brazilian Year of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Chrysler has issued a big order to ZF: The automotive supplier has concluded a delivery and licencing contract on the ZF eight-gear automatic transmission 8HP. For the time being, the state-of-the-art transmissions will be delivered to the automotive manufacturer by ZF Saarbrücken.

Just-in-time, just-in-sequence… that´s how the parts arrive. Planned and constructed by the SBB Sarland Development Corporation, the FORD Industrial Supplier Park with its conveyor belt (electronic suspension rails) delivers parts from vehicle components coordinately, punctually and in correct order.

May 2010 • Saarland Logistics in Israel
On May 24th and 25th, gwSaar Saarland Economic Promotion Corporation presents Saarland logistics on the annual ISCMC conference in Tel Aviv.
ISCMC, the Israeli Supply Chain Management Counci, is an international conference especially dedicated to topics of Supply Chain Management.
At the conference, Thomas Schuck, Managing Director of gwSaar, will present the Saarland as a logistics location. In this context, he will outline some examples of future-oriented research in Saarland, among them the Innovative Retail Laobratory (IRL), which is an application-oriented research lab of the DFKI German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and the GLOBUS SB-Warenhaus Holding.
At the same time, gwSaar also uses the platform of P.L.M.- the second international event in the logistics sector organized by the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce- in Tel Aviv. Here, efficient and cost-saving solutions in purchasing and logistics are presented.

December 2009 • IT-Land Saarland: Germany´s Highest Research Award Goes Again To A Saarbrücken Computer Scientist
As recently announced by the German Research Society (DFG), Joachim Weickert, Professor for Mathematics and Informatics at the Saarland University, has been awarded with the Gottried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize for his research of excellence in the area of mathematic image processing. The Leibniz Prize is the most endowed award that is regularly presented to scientists in Germany. For his research, Joachim Weickert receives 2.5 million Euros.

June 2009 • Saarland in the Focus of German Science
In 2009, summer will again turn into a Science Summer for one week, this time in Saarbrücken, the capital of Saarland. On Saturday, June 20, Annette Schavan, the Federal Minister of Education and Saarland´s Prime Minister Peter Müller started the Science Summer in Saarbrücken.
-Wissenschaft im Dialog- (WiD) organizes the Science Summer from June 20-26, 2009 together with several research institutes from Saarbrücken. In the big tent exhibition on the Tbilisser Platz, selected regional research institutes are showing their work. Special highlights: The exhibition train "Expedition Future" stopped at Sarbrücken from June 20-22. The science ship will anchor on the until Wednesday, June 24.

March 2009 • Logistics Hub Saarland Present at transport logistic 2009
From May 12-15, 2009 Saarland shows at transport logistic in Munich that it is not only excellently positioned in the heart of Europe but also can boast with customized concepts for the logistics branch.
In the last few years, many businesses have already discovered Saarland´s key locational advantages for themselves. The Dachser Euro Hub or the Ford Industrial Supplier Park with optimized logistics are just two examples of new company settlements, with the latter having been realized through the SBB Saarland Development Corporation, a subsidiary of SHS Saar Holding Company.
